  • Atheist Quotes

I have something to say to the religionist who feels atheists never say anything positive: You are an intelligent human being. Your life is valuable for its own sake. You are not second-class in the universe, deriving meaning and purpose from some other mind. You are not inherently evil--you are inherently human, possessing the positive rational potential to help make this a world of morality, peace and joy. Trust yourself.
    Dan Barker

He that will not reason is a bigot; he that cannot reason is a fool; he that dares not reason is a slave.
    William Drummond

The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.

Resurrection Myth

Recently I had an exchange with another blogger (Prayson Daniel) here who claims there were no dying and rising gods besides Jesus. Apparently he found it “easy” to attack the discredited book The World’s Sixteen Crucified Saviors: Or Christianity Before Christ by Kersey Graves and the controversial work of DM Murdock (Achraya S). Instead, if this blogger would have looked at some more recent and credible work AND a few Greek tragedies, in particular the earliest extant European novel, his conclusion would have been vastly different. Considering he is a Christian fundamentalist, his conclusion probably would have been the same after a long session of him sticking his fingers in his ears and crying out “la-la-la.” Continue reading

The Jesus Myth

I tend to doubt the historicity of Jesus. Why you might ask. To be honest I have not seen any compelling evidence anywhere. Particularly none to mention anywhere outside of the bible. I am well aware of the usual claim concerning the similarity to Mithras and other ancient myths. I don’t really want to address the myth from that side though. Of course I will look at it from outside the bible and as I did concerning the pious fraud in the sermon on the mount I will once again turn to the Jewish Talmud. Continue reading

Christian Fraud

Once again a Christian brought up the passage from Josephus as extra biblical evidence for the historicity of Jesus. Kinda funny considering Christians have been claiming the same for 17 centuries yet even Christian scholars do not claim the passage is fully legitimate. Antiquities by Josephus was written sometime after 90 CE so that is 19 centuries ago. Why have Christians only been claiming the passage as  evidence for 17? Evidence points to the passage being forged by Eusebius sometime in the early 4th century coincidentally at the time of Constantine’s Nicaean council. Continue reading

Deductive Idiot Part 2

Not William Lane Craig

This morning I was listening to the debate between William Lane Craig [don’t lots of serial killers use three names?] and Bart D. Ehrman on the topic “Is There Historical Evidence For The Resurrection Of Jesus.” My opinion of Craig has not changed one bit. The part I really find interesting is that Craig has a Plantinigian view and does not think argument is necessary to have a justified belief in god so why is he so preoccupied with debating about god and Jesus? Two Rants

I have had two very different topics brought to me. One is the pseudo-intellectual question “why is there something instead of nothing” and the other is just the general Christian opposition to abortion. Maybe it’s just the time of year but I just have to rant on those two topics. Continue reading

How Science Works And Some Logical Fallacies

Recently I have gotten a few emails through my contact form from three Christians saying that evolution has not been proven a fact and never will be. Then they went on essentially like good little soldiers in unison claiming that since evolution was never proven goddidit must be true. Besides being an either or fallacy, they all expressed a profound misunderstanding as to what science is and that prompted me to write this article. Continue reading

Evolution Will Be Falsified Within 100 Years?

Tiktaalik roseae

Tiktaalik

Again I have been told  by a Christian fundagelical out here that evolution will undoubtedly be falsified within the next century. I really didn’t follow her ‘logic’ so I asked her to explain. Continue reading
